You've all seen Tom Ford's Return-to-Womenswear Show.....

....but have you seen his inspiration? (please skip to 5:30)

"I was on the train from London to Paris, [of course you were, Tom Ford] and all if a sudden it just popped into my head: I'm going to do the Don Loper fashion show from I Love Lucy, [um, obviously]" Ford told Derek Blasberg in this month's Bazaar.

So he held the show under much secrecy in his Madison Avenue men's store, and, instead of using celebrity wives as Mr. Loper did, he recruited some of his fabulous friends...Julianne Moore, Daphne Guinness, Lauren Hutton, Marisa Berenson, Rachel Feinstein, and Beyonce to name a few.

For those of you who were just re-released back into society, welcome back!! Here is the show:

What's not to love about the show? Seeing the return of true glamour, of gorgeous clothes showcased in a luxurious intimate setting, by some of our culture's legendary beauties was such an indulgent change of pace. I have to say, this cast of mostly non-models really breathed life into these clothes in a way that blank-faced Russian teenagers never could have...it was amazing how each look really had its own narrative. Ford explained his motive: "The women [in my show] don't change their look from day to day. They have figured out who they are -- that's what makes you iconic." Amen, Tom.

The article's worth checking out, if for nothing else than Rachel Feinstein's lascivious dish on their fittings together....

**for an added bonus, check this out!
It's a Don Loper original! for less than half the price Lucy paid in the 50's!!
